Chris Gehrts has been dedicated to the retirement industry since 1998, bringing decades of experience and a passion for helping people plan for their future. Over the years, Chris has worked extensively with plan sponsors, committees, and participants—whether in large group settings or one-on-one consultations.

Chris’s expertise spans plans of all sizes, from start-ups to those managing hundreds of millions of dollars. He has partnered with plan sponsors across diverse industries, including faith-based and nonprofit organizations. Before joining SRP, Chris spent eight years on the recordkeeping side with Securian and later The Standard.

A graduate of St. Cloud State University, Chris holds degrees in Marketing and Economics. He is licensed with FINRA Series 65 and earned the Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®) designation through Fi360.

For Chris, the most rewarding part of his work is helping younger employees understand the importance of saving for retirement. “When it clicks with them, you know you’re making a difference and helping them make life-altering decisions,” he says.

Outside of work, Chris enjoys time with his family—his wife, four children, one grandson, and their dog, Sadie.

Some things you might not know about Chris...

What was your first job?

"My first job was delivering afternoon newspapers in elementary school. It was a great way to learn accountability. I was a team of one and I was solely responsible for getting my work done every single day."

If you could have dinner with anyone from history, who would it be?

"President Harry Truman, who was forced into maybe the most difficult decision any president has ever faced. That time in history is of particular interest to me because my great uncle was a Wake Island marine who was captured and held in a Japanese prison camp for nearly four years. He was only liberated after President Truman ordered the atomic bombs."

What is your favorite quote?

"“Be yourself; everyone else is already taken”."
