As a member of the swim team, Bert was named an All-ACC Academic athlete. Upon graduation, he started with First Union National Bank and in 1974 entered the Qualified Plan Market. After eleven years as a Regional Sales Pension Manager with two investment companies, he joined The Morehead Group. In 1985 Bert transformed the company into a leading regional Third-Party Administrative firm, eventually renaming it as Morehead Plan Administrators.
Thanks to Bert’s investment experience, many advisors and brokers sought his recommendation of investment record keepers and at times offered to split the case with him considering his expertise. In 2015, he sold MPA to Goldleaf Partners, a national TPA firm, to concentrate solely on being an investment advisor and plan consultant. Over his forty-three years in the industry, Bert has worked with hundreds of qualified plans, taught various pension courses, and spoken or lectured at various conferences and seminars.
Through the years, Bert has called the Dowd YMCA his second home; having spent many hours there in high school as both a lifeguard and swim instructor. Currently, Bert continues to frequent the YMCA, as much as time will permit, to exercise and work out. Bert is married with three children and three grandchildren. He enjoys spending time with his family and being at the beach as much as possible.
